This bright blue cowl with textured pattern is stylish, warm and comfortable. It is knitted with Aran weight wool and decorated with beautiful bunch of grapes and leaf. This beautiful accessory can be worn with coat, jacket or even with your favorite jumper.


The cowl is quick and easy to knit. It is knitted in rounds and has no seam. My knitting pattern is easy to follow and suitable for beginners. The PDF pattern is very detailed and contains 5 pages of written row-by-row instructions, diagram and pictures.

The pattern is made for two sizes.

COWL FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
-    Short cowl: 20 cm (8 inches) wide and 71 cm (28 inches) in circumference
-    Long cowl: 20 cm (8 inches) wide and 142 cm (56 inches) in circumference

MATERIALS: 
-    1 x 100 g of wool yarn for short cowl; 2 x 100g of wool yarn for long one
-    Circular needle size 7 (4.5 mm) x 60 cm for short cowl
-    Circular needle size 7 (4.5 mm) x 100 cm for long one
-    Set of sock needles size 7 (4.5 mm)
-    Knitter’s needle
-    Stitch marker

WEIGHT OF YARN: Aran

GAUGE:
-    20 stitches and 22 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch using needle size 7 (4.5 mm)

  1. Knitted up this very appealing short cowl pattern. Having knitted many cowls I should have realised there was no way a 71cm circumference cowl loosely cast off was going to fit as snuggly as the photos depict (to show off the grapevine). Mine turned out to the exact size but it was disappointingly saggy and slouchy and unwearable. I'm going to try again using a lightweight chunky yarn finished to a smaller circumference.

    1. Thank you for you feedback. What type of yarn did you use for your cowl? My cowl is knitted with Aran weight wool yarn and my knitting is tight, so the cowl keeps shape well.
